Thoughts on Thalia

At the recent Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Hall of Fame Induction Ball, Thalia Lyn, was the woman of the hour. The Business Observer spoke to several of her peers and got their feedback on the woman and the evening held in her honour.

“Thalia is a force of energy in her business life in her philanthropic and social work, and indeed in her social life as well. She has made a quantum leap in a world dominated by male entrepreneurs in particular within the family business context. Her success is an inspiration to generations of female business owners and female entrepreneurs, and also to patriarchs thinking about succession. Because after Thalia Lynn, the thousands of thousands of family businesses in Jamaica that are led by men, will think about preparing their daughters as well.” — Minister of Finance Nigel Clarke

“I am really proud as a past president of the PSOJ that tonight the committee voted in Thalia Lynn as our Hall of Famer, she has been one of the most important entrepreneurs in Jamaicas history and I think this is going to open many doors for young women, young ladies all around Jamaica to see opportunities for development as we grow as a country.” — William Mahfood, chairman of the board, Wisynco

“Knowing a stalwart in the business such as Thalia, and seeing what she has done not just for her family and her team, but for Jamaica on a whole, she is truly a woman to be emulated by all women. Looking on how she has grown over the years, the things that she has accomplished, it is eye-opening, but yet still encouraging for the younger generation and for people like me to aspire towards.” - Chorvelle Johnson, CEO Sagicor Bank.

“It was amazing to have Thalia get this award, it just continues to show what women can do and will do. Congrats Thalia! - Nadine Burrowes-Seaga, Life & Leadership Development coach, CEO of People Development Consultants

“Thalia is an icon in the business community, there was a lot of love tonight and a lot of support for Thalia.” - Jeffrey Hall, CEO Jamaica Producers
